Patch Notes: People Edition – Meet Olumide Oyeyipo!

Behind every growing company is an IT team that makes the day-to-day possible. Every browser click enabled, every customer conversation that happens, and every Slack message sent; IT is what makes modern work go round. As NinjaOne continues to grow, so does the number of employees, devices, and endpoints our internal IT team supports. For many organizations, that kind of growth can quickly become a challenge. Fortunately, our IT team has a secret weapon: they use NinjaOne to manage NinjaOne!

This month, we sat down with Olumide Oyeyipo, Service Desk Team Lead for EMEA, who knows the platform inside and out. Based in our Berlin office, Olumide shares his journey into IT, what drew him to team Ninja, the NinjaOne features that make his everyday work easier, and what he looks for when building and growing his team.

Let’s get to know Olumide.

Tell us about yourself. What do you do at NinjaOne?

Hi! I’m Olumide Oyeyipo, Service Desk Team Lead for EMEA at NinjaOne. I spend my days helping people 🙂 Sometimes that’s troubleshooting something that’s broken, other times it’s improving how we do things internally, or making sure everyone has what they need to get their work done. I’ve always liked that IT sits right at the intersection of people and technology. It’s not just about managing systems. It’s about supporting the person on the other end.

How’d you get started in IT? What initially drew you to the field, and what drew you to NinjaOne?

Growing up, I used to go to internet cafes and ‘buy time’ just to surf the internet. That was how a lot of us accessed technology back then. But while most people were just browsing, I kept finding myself asking a different kind of question: What actually makes this work? That curiosity stuck with me, and eventually I decided to study computer science to find the answers. The rest, as they say, is history.

NinjaOne was attractive for a specific reason: this is a company that actually builds tools for IT teams. I’m not just doing IT work here. I’m doing it inside a company that gets it. That felt like a good fit.

What’s one of your favorite ways to use the NinjaOne platform internally? Any features you rely on daily?

Honestly, it’s tough to pick just one. But if I really have to choose, I’d go with remote access. Jumping in and fixing something for a user without either of you having to move feels a bit like a superpower to me. It saves time, it removes friction, and from the user’s side, the problem gets solved quickly. That’s what matters most.

What challenges resonate with you most when you think about the customers we serve?

The one that comes to mind immediately is that each user/employee is different. Some people want to know exactly what went wrong and why. Others just want it fixed so they can move on with their day. And you have to read that quickly, because if you pitch it wrong either way, you’ve already lost them.

I think about this a lot because I’ve been on that front line. The technical fix is often the easier part; it’s the human side that takes real skill. But good tools help a lot because they free up time to actually focus on humans on the other end.

What is the most important thing you’ve learned at NinjaOne so far?

There is always something new to do. I mean that genuinely. The moment you wrap something up, there’s already something else waiting for you. That’s the way the world of IT operates. And it’s especially the way hypergrowth companies like ours operate. It’s pushed me to get better at prioritizing, communicating what I’m working on, and not letting perfect be the enemy of progress.

When you’re growing your team, what qualities do you look for?

Curiosity. I can work with someone who doesn’t know everything (nobody does in IT) but there has to be excitement or eagerness to want to figure it out. Beyond that, I look for people who take ownership. Not just doing the task, but getting it done right. And empathy matters more than people think in this field. IT is a service role. If you’re short with users or dismissive when they’re struggling, that shows. I want people on my team who understand that.

What are you passionate about outside of your career?

Family, without question. It’s the thing that keeps everything else in perspective. Work can get intense (lots of moving pieces and things pulling in different directions) and having that anchor at home matters for me. It’s less about grand gestures and more about being present, showing up, being there. That recharges me more than anything else.

That’s a wrap on this edition of Patch Notes: People Edition! A huge thank you to Olumide and everyone on NinjaOne’s IT team for keeping our employees connected, productive, and supported every day at work. And to IT professionals (read: superheroes) everywhere, thank you for everything you do.
